Watery Eyes

Cases

Are You Experiencing These Symptoms?

  • Constant tearing
  • Excessive watering of the eyes
  • Watery eyes when exposed to wind
  • Diagnosed with “Dry Eye”
  • Symptoms that do not improve with eye drops

Many people with watery eyes are diagnosed with dry eye syndrome by an eye specialist.

This can seem confusing because excessive tearing and dry eyes appear to be opposite problems.

At our clinic, we also consider the condition of the nasal passages and eyelid function.

One possible contributing factor is chronic mild rhinitis.

Changes in the tissues inside the nasal cavity may affect the surrounding areas and contribute to excessive tearing.

Another factor may be reduced eyelid function.

Blinking plays an important role in spreading tears evenly across the surface of the eye.

When eyelid movement becomes slightly impaired, tear distribution may become less effective, which can contribute to watery eyes.

At our clinic, we carefully evaluate the eyelids and surrounding tissues to identify factors that may be contributing to symptoms.

For people with persistent watery eyes, it may be helpful to consider not only the eyes themselves but also the condition of the nose and eyelids.
