Eye Discharge

Cases

Are You Experiencing These Symptoms?

  • Excessive eye discharge
  • Sticky eyes upon waking
  • Red eyelids
  • Itchy eyes
  • Discomfort around the eyes

Eye discharge is often produced as part of the body’s natural response to inflammation of the eyelids.

As inflammation heals, metabolic by-products may accumulate and appear as eye discharge.

For this reason, simply removing the discharge may not prevent it from returning if the eyelid inflammation remains.

Looking at the inside of the lower eyelid may reveal redness, which can be a sign of ongoing inflammation.

As the inflammation improves and the redness subsides, the amount of eye discharge often decreases as well.

At our clinic, we evaluate the condition of the eyelids in addition to the symptoms themselves.
